Our 1st work camper job, at Yosemite Pines in California

Our dream began in 2008 when we nervously placed an add online with workamper. We were quite surprised when we had received several offers within about a week.

The one which we were most interested in was from Mary at Yosemite Pines RV Resort. This was partly because I am originally from Sonora California which is a town not far from there. This would also place us near family and friends as well as put us in the heart of the Gold Country.

Mary, who was the manager at that time for Yosemite Pines, had invited us over to the park for a visit and interview. Since we had driven so far they had put us up in one of the cabins for over night, and took us out to dinner at the Iron Door Saloon / Restaurant. We were quite impressed with the generosity of the management and with the campground itself. So nervously again, we accepted the position and we prepared for our arrival in April.
Our only request at that time was not to start on April 1st as we did not want this to be a big joke, but the dream job which we were hoping for.

All was going well until the week before the planned move, when both Robert and I had came down with a very nasty flu bug, which put us both in bed and behind in preparing for the move.

Since we do not have a tow vehicle we had hired a mover from the internet, which did not work out well at all. They were given the exact day for the move yet a guy had called us a week before saying that he would be there the next day. Mind you this was while we were so sick in bed.
I reminded the mover of the arranged date and he had a bit of an attitude, basically saying it was then or never. Well needless to say we found another mover, one which we still use to this day.

Move day came and we made our way to Groveland CA. Yes up the notorious "Priest Grade".

Yosemite Pines is a terraced park, and our site was up on in the upper C level. A big beautiful end site. We very much enjoyed it. It was very peaceful up there and we frequently had deer walking by.

We learned a lot from our 2 years at Yosemite Pines, and hold fond memories of our time spent there and the people which we have met during that time. Since this park is just outside of Yosemite National Park we would get groups of travelers from all over the world. France, Netherlands, Germany, England just to name a few. It was very busy, but work was fun.
Most were very nice fun people.. Others well, were interesting to say the least.

About the park: It is a large park with over 181 sites, which consist of tent sites, RV sites, Yurts, and Cabins of various sizes. They have a large pool, recreation room, laundry, petting zoo, store, children's play ground, 2 mile walking trail, a gold mine and a gold panning station, all this is nestled in the Gold Country filled with much beauty and history. And lets not forget that it is just outside of one of our most beautiful National Parks,
Yosemite.
